Biografia
Since their formation 15 years ago, and fronted by long-time member Mick Moss, Antimatter have moved through a broad range of musical identities. The debut ‘Saviour’ (best album and best newcomer of the year, Psycho! Magazine, 2001) launched the project with a heavy vein in electronica, whilst ‘Planetary Confinement’, four years later, saw a completely acoustic canvass. The next, much celebrated ’Leaving Eden’ album sealed the chameleonic nature of Antimatter, portrayed this time as a downbeat classic rock outfit. Over the years, tracks have been selected for programming use by the BBC and MTV, others have crossed over to different genres with their use by German rapper Bushido, reaching number 14 and 16 in the German charts, whist Moss’ vocal guest on the single ‘Broken Smile’ helped the track reach the official number 1 spot in Armenia, in 2012. Antimatter have headlined at the prestigious ‘Wave Gotik Treffen’ (2009), ‘Hard Rock Laager’ (2003) the recent ‘1st Annual Rock Fest’ in Armenia. Most recently we have seen the progressive rock/new wave hybrid ‘Fear Of A Unique Identity’ (entering the German newcomer charts at number 6) followed by 2015’s melancholic art-prog ‘The Judas Table’, leaving us with the question, what will they sound like next? One thing is for sure, the introspective, socio-psychological lyrics, dark musical vibe, and Moss’s soulful vocals, all staples of Antimatter’s trademark texture, will remain.

Biografia
Painted Black was formed in 2001, in the small portuguese town of Tortosendo, from the determination of Daniel Lucas (Vocals) and Luís Fazendeiro (Guitars & Synths), both sharing the same purpose of driving out the inmost feelings through music.

It’s difficult to niche Painted Black to a single genre but energy and melancholy are definitely the key elements of the band’s music, gathering early on influences from the Doom/Death metal scene and later on developing slight progressive sensibilities while maintaning an atmospheric and intimistic side.

The band soon became more active after releasing the first demo “The Neverlight” in 2005, followed by a second demo/EP “Verbo” in 2007. These releases gave them some recognition in the Portuguese Underground meatl scene and were the first seeds that spread in the European metal scene. They were three times considered BEST UNSIGNED PORTUGUESE BAND by the readers poll of Portuguese Metal magazine LOUD! (2007,2008 and 2009).

In the summer of 2009 the band entered UltraSound Studios in Braga, Portugal, to record their debut album “Cold Comfort” with producers Daniel Cardoso (Anathema, Head Control System) & Pedro Mendes (WAKO, Sullen)

The album was released on May 2010 in Portugal by the Indie Label Ethereal Sound Works and was voted the BEST PORTUGUESE METAL ALBUM in 2010 by the readers poll of LOUD! Magazine.
After touring and promoting the album and after some troubled times with line-up changes the band got back on its feet again and decided to record and release by themselves the Digital EP “Quarto Vazio” in 2014, which showcased a more Rock oriented sound but still maintained all the melodic and atmospheric characteristics of their music.

Painted Black is currently on the mixing stage of their still untitled second album, hopefully to be release on the first half of 2016!
